Designing a form builder tool for a microsite editor
I worked on a variety of products in the Salesforce Marketing Cloud, including mobile marketing, journey automation, and web and email content management. One of my favorite projects was designing a product to allow customers to easily create microsites, and then designing a widget for customers to add forms to a microsite page.
My main contributions included:
UX Workshop Facilitation
I worked with our Product Manager to plan a half day team offsite as a kickoff for designing the form builder widget. In this offsite, we:
- Presented existing research and customer needs related to the project.
- Led brainstorming and paper prototyping activities to explore possible solutions.
- Facilitated discussion to review our ideas and narrow down to a few solutions to test.
Wireframing and Prototyping
I took ideas from the workshop and iterated on them until I had an interactive prototype to test, making sure to collaborate regularly with our dev team.
I started with sketching, then moved to wireframe creation, and ended up creating the prototype in Axure.
User Testing & Iteration
I worked with our Product Manager and UX Researcher to set up usability tests, first with internal stakeholders and then with customers, to find out what worked well and what needed improvement. Based on results from user testing, I iterated on the designs.
As part of an agile environment, the development team started coding basic functionality while I was designing and testing. I closely collaborated with developers as I iterated on designs, and worked with our Product Manager to create final requirements and design documentation.
The form builder widget was one of many tools within a web content management app.
